What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forensic Photographic Technician position at Police?
Position Summary
Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in the production of forensic photographic products including measuring photographic processing solutions and mixing color chemistry solutions; perform other laboratory functions and tasks in support of police department forensic photographic activities.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
High school diploma or GED; and
Three (3) years of photographic experience and two (2) years of evidence handling experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a New Mexico Driver's License.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
- Advanced photographic chemistry
- Operational characteristics, services and activities of a photographic laboratory program
- Modern and complex principles and practices of color processing
- Operational characteristics of forensic photographic and video production equipment
- Automated negative processing and printing
- Photo editing software i.e. Photoshop
- Portrait lighting techniques
- Basic record keeping procedures
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Operate color processing and printing equipment
- Operate forensic photographic cameras
- Operate advanced digital cameras and flash systems
- Interpret and explain City criminalistics policies and procedures
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including a variety of City and other government officials, community groups, and the general public
