What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transit Safety Sergeant position at Police?
Position Summary
Supervise, plan and coordinate transit security activities and operations through the City’s Transit Safety Division; coordinate assigned activities with other departments, divisions, outside agencies and the general public; provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to higher-level supervisory or management staff.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED; and
Four (4) years of security experience; and
To include one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Must be able to successfully complete and pass the Albuquerque Police Department Transit Safety Training Academy.
May be required to work weekends/holidays/odd days off/shift work.

- Modern and complex principles and practices of maintaining security equipment
- Principles of municipal budget preparation and control
- Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
- Principles and procedures of program development and implementation
