What are the responsibilities and job description for the Economic Policy Reporter position at POLITICO?
POLITICO is seeking an economic policy reporter with deep experience on Capitol Hill to cover the congressional committees that shape Washington’s oversight of banking, finance and the economy. With a focus on the House Financial Services and Senate Banking committees, this reporter will be at the nexus of some of the paramount storylines as Republicans seek to reset everything from the government role in housing to the U.S. relationship with China.
We’re looking for someone who can break news and write with sweep and authority on the personalities and power struggles among lawmakers making decisions affecting the world’s largest economy. We also want to chronicle how the Trump administration is shaping these debates with lawmakers.
You should thrive on competition, and be prepared to work collaboratively as a member of a close-knit team. You’ll need experience covering financial regulation and a record of delivering both scoops and well-written enterprise on a fast-paced daily beat.
Please include in your application a resume, a cover letter (outlining your interest and qualifications for the beat) and at least five journalistic writing samples (preferably PDFs or publicly accessible links).
