Under limited supervision, performs skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment, independently and as part of team to support county facilities and projects. This role ensures that all electrical components comply with safety regulations and operate efficiently.
Illustrative Examples of Work
- Plans proposed electrical installations from specifications, blueprints, sketches, or diagrams; installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures according to relevant code; determines size of transformers, types, sizes, and qualities of wire, panel boards, outlet boxes, switchboxes, pull boxes and other equipment necessary to carry the load demands and requirements; may install wiring for phone systems and computer networking.
- Performs regular inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, identifying and diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components to resolve issues.
- Replaces outdated or malfunctioning electrical components with energy-efficient systems and ensure all installations comply with updated codes and regulations.
- Estimates material and equipment required for the installation, repair, and / or replacement of electrical wiring and equipment; responsible for placing purchase orders and projecting cost estimations.
- Maintains records of work performed, including materials used, time spent on jobs, and equipment serviced or repaired.
- Assists in planning or completing energy conservation projects or tasks as needed; may provide oversight of contracted electricians performing work in County facilities.
- Performs related duties as required.
