Custom Job Purpose:
This position exists to perform responsible work in the management of a large warehousing and distribution center.
Essential Functions of this Job
Assist the Warehousing and Distribution Center Manager in supervising and directing the receipt, storage and distribution of a large variety of supplies, materials and equipment. Develops and recommends warehouse procedures and schedules. Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of warehousing and distribution personnel. Makes recommendations concerning budget and promotions. Responsible for disciplining warehouse workers. Assists in planning and supervising the training of warehouse and distribution personnel. Establishes delivery routes and schedules personnel and equipment for supply and equipment deliveries.
Non-Essential Functions of this Job
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of warehousing operations, storing, receiving and distributing methods and procedures and computer data entry. Ability to type, word process and set up files as needed. Ability to use a facsimile machine and other required office machinery. Ability to utilize enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of warehousing and distribution personnel. Ability to conduct him/herself in a professional manner at all times. Proven ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees, district personnel and vendors. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements
Graduation from high school or completion of G.E.D. Five (5) years experience in a Warehousing and Distribution Center, including experience in a supervisory position, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Work Context:
Requires standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines.
Physical Environment:
Requires standing for the majority of the day, and the ability to frequently lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing between 20 and 50 pounds. Requires working both indoors and outdoors. Requires exposure to outdoor elements, including weather changes, foliage, insects. Requires the handling and use of cleaning solvents and solutions. Requires the proper use of personal protective devices and equipment as assigned.
