Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of Board of Education policy, North Carolina statutes, and goals established by the Principal.
Environmental Factors
This position requires lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and dealing with sick students. Must attend to daily physical needs of students (feeding, bathroom, medical, etc.)

Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant

Job Summary: To assist in assessing and providing quality instruction and learning opportunities for exceptional children through a variety of settings and instructional procedures, according to the essential functions listed below.
Essential Functions
- Assist in planning/implementing instruction for students identified as exceptional.
- Assist in overseeing the distribution and intake of medication to students on continuous dosage regimens.
- Assist in daily instruction to self-contained and resource students.
- Assist with the maintenance of adaptive communication equipment and other specialized equipment related to the exceptional children's program.
- Assist in the identification of specific needs of the exceptional children's program and order appropriate materials using the allotted budget.
- Attend to daily physical needs of students as required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervising teacher.
- Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred
