Job Summary: To provide high quality, active learning experiences for all children in a safe, caring, and respectful environment by implementing the essential functions listed below.
Essential Functions:
1. Plan developmentally appropriate lessons and learning activities that address the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCS). Appropriate planning includes:

5. Integrate A (arts) activities into core studies.
6. Use assessment as an integral element in instruction. Check student work and provide feedback in a timely manner.
7. Be knowledgeable of and use current technologies in planning, communications, and in instruction.

12. Understand and comply with laws and policies.

Evaluation:

Environmental Factors:
This position requires light to moderate lifting, dealing with sick children, and some contact with bodily fluids. The ability to climb steps is necessary.

- Prepare clear lesson plans and instructions for substitutes.

- Develop, teach, and implement a classroom management/student behavior plan.
- Create a “respect for all” environment in the classroom and throughout the school.
- Monitor student behavior throughout the school day: classroom, class changes, lunch, recess.
- Administer consistent, appropriate interventions for student misbehavior.
- Maintain student and teacher dignity at all times.
- Realize that student behavior issues are additional opportunities to teach a child.
