What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Automation Technician (Field Technician) position at Polk Production Technologies, Inc.?
A. SCOPE and PURPOSE
Assembles, installs, tests, calibrates, and repairs pneumatic, electric and hydraulic equipment for conformance to established standards. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as testing, cleaning, or repairing equipment to detect and prevent problems. Must have a minimum 3-5 years experience in Automation, Electrical, and/or Instrumentation. Pay is based on experience.
B. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assembles and installs safety instrument equipment to specifications. (Pressure safety valves, pressure switches, etc.)
- Tests pneumatic, electric and hydraulic equipment to evaluate performance and determine the need for adjustment or replacement.
- Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
- Performs preventative maintenance or calibration of safety equipment.
- Turns valves to allow measured amounts of air or gas to pass through meters at specified flow rates.
- Ability to run 1/4", 3/8”, 1/2" and 3/4" stainless steel tubing.
- Tests pipes and tubing for leaks after installation.
- Calibrate, span, and test pressure devices.
- Reports hazardous field situations and damaged equipment.
- Install pressure control valves, switches, and regulators.
- Prepares reports of services rendered, tools used, and time required for billing purposes.
- Measure, cut, file, and install tray.
- Pull, secure, and terminate wire.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
This position requires a safe driving record along with training to safely operate heavy machinery, vehicles, or equipment as needed. Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and background check. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with a diverse team. Working conditions include physical labor in harsh climates and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be willing to travel and work long hours.
