Reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting with planning and administering all aspects of their assigned sports program. The position is responsible for assisting with maintaining the integrity of the program, the maintenance of a genuine student-athlete concept, and the personal development of student-athletes on both on and off the field. The Assistant Coach will follow all rules and regulations pertaining to the program and appropriate governing organizations, including the Florida Community College Activities Associations, the National Junior College Athletics Association, and the Mid-Florida Conference.

Essential Functions/Duties
- Coordinates the development and promotion of a college sports program.
- Organizes and schedules practice sessions to teach sports techniques, game rules, strategies and game tactics.
- Develops and manages a recruiting plan. Corresponds with high school coaches, contacts prospective student-athletes, evaluates talent and meets with prospective students. Maintain statistics on contacts and evaluations.
- Develops strategies to motivate maximum individual and team athletic performance.
- Supervise student-athletes during practice, contests, and travel.
- Monitors academic progress and eligibility status for student-athletes.
- Maintains records of scholarship allocations as approved by the President.
- Processes National Junior College Athletic Association Letters of Intent cancellations and transfer waivers for approval by the Director of Athletics.
- Manages the assigned program with practice and game schedules, travel arrangements, study halls and eligibility requirements.
- Coordinates summer camps for community youth.
- Assists with fundraising and promotions to assist in supporting the program. Works with the team to develop community service projects.
- Works cooperatively with all sports to ensure college-wide coordination of the athletic program.
- Maintains knowledge of current sport game rules and changes to those rules as they occur.
- Attends state and national meetings for assigned athletics to represent Polk State College.
Salary Information
- This position is found on the Supplemental Pay Scale. Salary to be paid to an individual to perform typical duties and assume appropriate responsibilities for one of several college-sponsored activities as follows: (An annual supplement is subject to monthly proration).
