Job Description :

A Tutor possesses special skills or training in a specific subject area or field, who is employed to provide individual or small group instructional reinforcement. A tutor may be a currently enrolled Polk State student or a person with an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, or an equivalent number of credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university. Tutors must demonstrate proficiency in the subjects in which they tutor and have taken and passed with a grade of "B" or better in the course(s) in which they will tutor.

Examples of Duties

Essential Functions / Duties :

Provide individual or small group instructional reinforcement for disabled students.
Maintains confidentiality at all times regarding student, office records, and information.
Performs all tasks with a friendly, professional work attitude at all times.

Typical Qualifications

Required Skills :

Good reading and writing skills

Ability to write legibly

Ability to perform repetitive tasks with patience

Ability to work well with a diverse student population

Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated

Well-developed interpersonal skills

Good judgment

Required Education :

Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent).

Preferred Education :

A.S. degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
