The primary role of this position is to provide college level instruction and instruction-related activities designed to encourage, support, and enable students' success. This position will be responsible for direct instruction, assessment of student performance, curriculum design, preparation of course-related materials, selection of textbooks and other course-related materials, maintenance of class records, reporting on student performance and other duties typically and traditionally associated with college faculty positions. This position will work in a clinical setting, either off-campus in the hospitals or on-campus in the simulation / nursing labs.
Examples of Duties
Essential Functions / Duties :
- Teach courses objectives in accordance with published course descriptions, schedules, procedures, and course outlines furnished students.
- Manage students in a clinical setting (hospital or lab) by assisting with scheduling, skill development / testing, setting up lab equipment, facilitating directives with other faculty / staff or hospital personnel, etc.
- Develop departmental goals and plans of action to achieve them.
- Provide input and work with other faculty and staff to review, produce and / or select course-related materials.
- Conduct on-going evaluation of student progress and maintain records of student course / class performance.
- Prepare and submit grade reports and other reports on student performance as may be scheduled or required.
- Organize class activities, relating them to the overall objectives of the course.
- Work with the Advent Health Dean of Nursing and other faculty and staff as appropriate to assess and modify as needed course and program goals, objectives, methods and content.
- Participate in the shared decision-making processes.
- Serve on at least one of the College's standing committees, or on an officially established work group or ad hoc committee each year in the spirit of professional responsibility.
- Serve as a resource in identification and recruitment of faculty and staff, both adjunct and full-time.
- Supervise student learning and other activities as assigned and appropriate in classroom, laboratory, studio, clinical site and / or other areas such activities may occur.
- Exercise due care that College equipment / materials entrusted to his / her care is not abused by students and is used safely and in such fashion as to constitute no threat to life, health or property.
- Participate in class schedule development working with other faculty members, and with others as appropriate.
- Serve as mentor for new or adjunct instructor when appointed.
- Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of annual and other strategic plans and documents.
- Serve as resource for project / grant development implementation and evaluation, and for advisory committees.
- Participate in the assessment of personal professional and institutional effectiveness as prescribed in DBOT Rule and College Procedure.
