Job Title: Boat Lift Welder
Job Overview:
Our welders are responsible for welding and fabricating metal components used in the assembly of boat lifts. This role requires expertise in welding techniques, precision in metal fabrication, and a thorough understanding of boat lift systems. The Boat Lift Welder ensures that all components are constructed to meet safety, quality, and design specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Welding & Fabrication:
Perform welding on steel, aluminum, and other metals used in boat lift assemblies.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to determine welding requirements and specifications.
Cut, shape, and assemble metal parts as part of the fabrication of boat lifts, docks, and related products.
Use various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, depending on the material and design.
Quality Control:
Ensure that all welded parts meet or exceed the required structural, safety, and aesthetic standards.
Perform post-welding finishing, including grinding, polishing, and cleaning welds to ensure smoothness and durability.
Assembly Support:
Collaborate with the boat lift assembly team to ensure that welded components fit seamlessly into the larger assembly process.
Assist with the assembly or installation of welded parts as required.
Provide on-site welding support for the installation or repair of boat lift systems when needed.
Equipment & Tool Maintenance:
Maintain and properly use welding machines, grinders, saws, and other tools to fabricate metal components.
Ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition, performing regular maintenance and repairs when necessary.
Follow safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations, including wearing protective gear (e.g., gloves, helmets, welding masks) and following OSHA guidelines.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, keeping it free from hazards and ensuring compliance with company safety policies.
Stay updated on welding techniques and safety procedures to ensure the highest quality and safest work practices.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of welding activities, materials used, and production times.
Report any issues or concerns with welding projects to supervisors for immediate resolution.
Track inventory of welding supplies and materials, notifying the supervisor of any low stock.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a welder, with expertise in welding metal components (steel, aluminum, etc.).
Proficient in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Experience working with heavy-duty equipment and machinery.
Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy parts and work in various environments.
Attention to detail, with the ability to produce precise and accurate welds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in welding (e.g., AWS or equivalent) or completion of an accredited welding program.
Experience with marine or boat lift systems and related fabrication.
Familiarity with CAD software or design tools for fabrication.
Ability to operate other machinery or tools used in boat lift assembly.
Working Conditions:
Safety equipment, including gloves, welding helmets, and protective clothing, is required at all times during work.
