2nd Shift Converting Production Manager
Department: Production- Lamination, Pouch and Slitting
Shift Hours: 4:00pm- 12:30am
Job Summary:
The primary focus of the position will be to lead and supervise the lamination and pouch operation towards advanced standards of safety, quality, production, efficiency, and optimal individual contribution. Process analysis and improvement will be a major responsibility. This will include the evaluation of current processes and procedures. This position is responsible for recommending, implementing, monitoring, and measuring the effectiveness of policies and procedures. Training, policy enforcement, R&D, supplier management, employee management, waste reduction, efficiency production are key areas that require improvement and would fall under the responsibility of this position.
Preferred Education:
- College degree preferred. Minimum high school and equivalent work experience and demonstrated knowledge.
- Computer proficient
Preferred Experience:
10 years in flexographic industry. Preferably at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Must have wide web flexographic experience using solvent and solvent less adhesives in the lamination process, laminating on various substrates including BOPP, PET, PE, Paper, coated films etc. Familiar with slitting policy and procedures and machinery. Familiar with Totani pouch machine.

- Must have the ability to communicate and train effectively plant wide through education, training, and teamwork.
- Interview, hire, train, direct and mentor staff and all plant employees.
- Ensure the safety of all employees; lead a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries. Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
- The ability to remain on budget of raw materials, waste and labor cost while ensuring quality.
- Trained in proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste and lead by example.
Duties:
- Responsible for overall efficiency/production, quality, and safety for lamination and pouch department.
- Responsible for lamination and pouch operators, lamination, and pouch assistants, leads and department supervision.
- Must ensure a safe working environment and that employees are compliant with all personnel, product, and food safety regulations, including but not limited to adhering to safety policy, wearing protective gear, wearing safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, etc.
- Must ensure safety guards are in place on all machinery, especially when the equipment is operational.
- Ensure that employees are trained and follow all general hygiene and product safety procedures.
- Ensure that maintenance of the equipment and work environment is performed as scheduled.
- Conduct daily inspections of the equipment and workplace to ensure order and cleanliness.
- Ensure procedures are being followed in preparation for production and a customer approved sample is available for production comparison.
- Work with and communicate with suppliers for R&D, training, and development.
- Trained in the handling of hazardous materials, in spill control/clean up and the Emergency Response and Contingency Plan.
- Operating a motor vehicle, other vehicle, equipment, machinery, or power tools.
- Repairing, maintaining, or monitoring the performance or operation of any equipment, machinery, or manufacturing process. The malfunction or disruption of which could result in injury or property damage.
- The Converting Manager is informed and held accountable for their food safety, quality, and regulatory responsibilities. notify management of actual or potential food safety issues and resolve food safety issues within their scope of work.
