Job Purpose
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Facilities Technician to join our team. In this full-time role, you will perform a diverse range of tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of company buildings and facilities. Your expertise will support areas such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); carpentry; plumbing; masonry; painting; landscaping; Koi pond maintenance; pest control; and other facility-related safety and maintenance responsibilities.
This is an entry-level position within the Facilities Project Department, designed to provide hands-on experience and professional growth. Initially, you will work under close supervision to master essential responsibilities. Over time, as you demonstrate independence and skill proficiency, you will take on increasingly complex assignments and responsibilities.
Essential Responsibilities
As a Facilities Technician, you will:
- Conduct preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment using the Fiix PM program.
- Prioritize daily tasks effectively to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity.
- Perform routine inspections of buildings and grounds for cleanliness, appearance, and safety; document observations in the Fiix system.
- Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex issues with mechanical systems.
- Respond promptly to weather-related needs, including shoveling snow and applying salt to ensure campus safety.
- Maintain and repair light fixtures, including bulb and ballast replacements, across the campus.
- Handle plumbing repairs, such as replacing fixtures, valves, and other related components.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs for fixtures, devices, and appliances as assigned.
- Execute carpentry projects, including repairs and installations involving windows, doors, furniture, and structures.
- Maintain the appearance and health of Koi ponds, including water quality monitoring, algae removal, and general upkeep.
- Carry out painting tasks for both interior and exterior areas, as well as drywall repairs.
- Clean and maintain outdoor campus areas, such as furniture, walls, and fences, using hand tools or power washing equipment.
- Transport furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Address basic roof and gutter repair issues.
- Serve as an essential team member during extreme weather and emergencies, ensuring facilities remain operational and safe.
- Document all work in the Fiix system to ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols, policies, and Life-Saving Rules.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you should have:
- The ability to measure and calculate dimensions, angles, and volumes.
- Experience designing, sketching, and planning construction projects.
- Knowledge of estimating materials and equipment for assignments.
- Familiarity with reading blueprints, manuals, and technical drawings.
- An understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and codes.
- Strong time-management skills to independently prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office and maintenance software such as Fiix.
- Clear communication skills in both oral and written formats.
- A commitment to fostering positive working relationships across teams.
Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, stoop, push/pull, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- A valid forklift license.
- A valid South Carolina driver’s license.
