SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor leads a team of trained Production Technicians to manufacture medical devices following all applicable Quality System Work Instructions (WIs) and procedures (QSPs).
The Production Supervisor performs detailed scheduling and assigns work to the team, tracks progress throughout the shift and reports progress at end of each shift. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all Quality System Work Instructions (WIs) for their department are accurate and the Production Technicians are trained on and following them when performing their job functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Competency to perform job activities of employees in department
- Schedule workload and team members to accomplish production schedule
- Assist in the prioritization of the scheduled work in the department
- Provide feedback, identify issues and resolve production problems with appropriate resources
- Identify and participate in continuous improvement activities
- Provide training for new Production Technician employees
- Ensure compliance of team to applicable Work Instructions, Quality System Procedures, Safety Program
- Responsible for accurate accounting of material inventory used in department
- Responsible for accuracy of material returned to the warehouse upon completion of work order
- Provide regular performance feedback to production employees, including 30/60/90 day evaluations and annual performance reviews
- Ability to use various computer programs including, but not limited to, ERP system, QT-9, simple spreadsheets and Word documents
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to manage a team of Production Technicians
- Ability to work in a team environment including interaction and collaboration with other departments to meet business needs
- Mechanical aptitude to assist employees in department to achieve production goals and to effectively interface with Engineering and Maintenance Team
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Attention to detail in production of medical device and associated documentation
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to use various hand tools
- Ability to lift approximately 25lbs
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three years related production experience and/or training
- Or, equivalent combination of education and experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, manipulate, handle, or feel production items or materials repetitively. The employee frequently is required to stand and sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Lab coat, hair net and gloves required at all times in production rooms. Production rooms are kept at a constant temperature and humidity for assembly of PTS test strips.
