Job Summary:
The Quality Control Technician at the Valley Park Plant uses wet chemical and instrumental methods to analyze samples of products and raw materials. The QC Technician interprets the results, and for many products, specifies adjustments which optimize product conformance to specifications. The QC technician also analyzes SPC and SQC data and makes recommendations for process improvements. In support of our ISO 9000 program, the QC Technician performs instrument and solution calibrations and maintains calibration, product and raw material quality records. The QC Technician participates in the manufacturing process at Valley Park and makes timely adjustment orders and entries of quality data into SAP, ensuring minimal interruption in processing flow. The QC Technician is knowledgeable about properties and hazards of the chemicals, products and test methods they perform and keeps the lab clean and orderly to maximize safety.
The QC Technician is a member of a team that works rotating schedules to cover the plant 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, including most holidays. Additionally, the QC Technician is responsible for acting as supervisor when required. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management.
Estimated Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform wet analysis or instrumental analysis of samples
- Data logging and reporting
- Statistical reporting and analysis
- Maintenance of lab and equipment
- Calibration of lab equipment
Knowledge and Skills: Specialized knowledge and skills needed to perform the job.
- College chemistry (organic chemistry is strongly preferred).
- College level math skill including algebra andstatistics.
- Knowledge of instrumental methods (Gas Chromatography, Infrared Spectrophotometry, HPLC).
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- SAP preferred.
Education: Education, licenses, certifications or degrees needed to perform the job.
BS degree in Chemistry or Biology with three (3) years relevant work experience or a minimum of five (5)
years relevant experience needed.
