Role Description
Your North Star: Drive patient engagement and enrollment by using your outbound calling and sales skills to connect patients with essential services.
As an Outreach & Engagement Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for patients, making outbound calls to educate and enroll them in Pomelo Care's services. You’ll leverage your sales experience to engage patients, build trust, and meet enrollment goals. You'll play a key role in educating patients about the clinical and social resources Pomelo Care offers, helping them navigate their healthcare needs. The ideal candidate is not only a strong communicator but also a goal-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct high-volume outbound calls and digital outreach (SMS, email) to educate patients on Pomelo Care's services and resources, and enroll them into our programs.
- Use sales techniques to convert interest into enrollment, persuade potential patients, and provide value propositions tailored to individual needs.
- Achieve enrollment goals and meet key performance indicators (KPIs) related to call volume, patient conversion, and engagement.
- Manage inbound inquiries and convert them into meaningful patient enrollments.
- Answer patient questions, address concerns, and navigate potential barriers to enrollment, ensuring patients understand how Pomelo Care can support their healthcare journey.
- Maintain accurate records of patient outreach activities and enrollments using our CRM or other tools.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external healthcare providers, community organizations, and stakeholders to ensure a seamless enrollment experience for patients.
- Schedule follow-up calls and appointment coordination, ensuring timely and consistent patient engagement.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated on healthcare trends and best practices in patient engagement and enrollment.
Who You Are:
- Highly motivated, with a sales-oriented mindset and a passion for enrolling patients into programs that improve their health outcomes.
- Able to handle high call volumes and work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect with patients and build trust over the phone.
- Goal-oriented and driven to meet or exceed enrollment targets and company KPIs.
- Demonstrates empathy and strong problem-solving abilities when engaging with patients.
- Able to work Monday-Friday, 10:00am - 6:30pm CT, with availability for some evenings and weekends as needed.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Comfortable working remotely with reliable internet connection.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience in sales or customer acquisition roles, especially in outbound call environments.
- Previous experience in cold calling and or outbound calling role, community outreach, or social work.
- Familiarity with Medicaid health plans and navigating healthcare systems.
- Fluency in Spanish to engage a wider patient base.
- Experience in a startup environment, where adaptability and flexibility are key

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes benefits and other opportunities at Pomelo Care. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Pomelo Care is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $40,000 to $50,000, plus the opportunity to earn a performance bonus. We expect most candidates to fall in the middle of the range.
