Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Patient Care Technician Level 1 (PCT-1) is to work across multiple clinical areas within the department including : ambulatory care, sterile processing, operating room, and phlebotomy. Essential job functions include sterile processing, ordering lab tests in CPSI, obtaining blood specimens, perform EKGs, perform bladder scans under the guidance of a registered nurse, vital signs, documentation of care, stocks departmental supplies, transporting specimens to the lab, transporting patients, obtains blood glucose, room turnover clerical duties : including answering phones, and order entry.
The PCT-1 assigned to the Surgical Services Unit will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, timely, effective, quality, age appropriate, culture appropriate, cost conscious and evidenced based care. The PCT-1 provides patient care on an individualized basis, according to organizational policies and procedures. Within the level of the PCT-1 qualifications, may be assigned to work on other nursing units based on patient census and staffing needs.

Experience / Certificates
1-3 years if MA / STNA / Phlebotomist experience - preferred
BCLS certification
