Job Summary
As unit assistants of Pomerene Hospital it is our responsibility to support the mission and role of Pomerene Hospital within the organization and out in the community at all times. Pomerene unit assistants will demonstrate a support of the hospital's mission, vision, values and strategic plan in a team-oriented environment. The unit assistant also performs / supports all job duties in compliance with laws, regulations and in observance of accrediting agency standards and related professional organization standards. Professionalism will be maintained throughout employment and includes physical appearance and behavioral presentation.
The Unit Assistant assigned to the Med / Surg Unit will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, timely, effective, quality, age appropriate, culture appropriate, cost conscious and evidenced based care. The Unit Assistant provides patient care on an individualized basis, according to organizational policies and procedures. Within the level of the Unit Assistant's qualifications, may be assigned to work on other nursing units based on patient census and staffing needs.
Essential Job Functions
Moves throughout the facility as needed, appropriately assists in emergency drills and situations, and demonstrates the physical and clinical capacity to provide direct patient care and assistance with activities of daily living as described in the tasks and duties of this position.
Education
High School Diploma / GED -Required
Experience
1-3 years of Healthcare / Medical experience preferred
Title
STNA Preferred
BCLS Certification Required- may be obtain during orientation period
