What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Field Technician position at Pomeroy?
We are seeking an onsite IT Field Technician in Portage, MI for a 12 month contract. The IT Field Technician will undertake tasks of network development and maintenance including a switch refresh project, data center teardown, racking/stacking, cabling, etc.
Schedule: Standard schedule will be Monday thru Friday, 8am to 5pm (70% of the time), however during cutovers, evening and weekend hours will be required.
Pay Rate: $25-35/hr
Responsibilities:
- Install well-functioning computer networks, connections, and cabling.
- Perform troubleshooting to system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of network.
- Inspect LAN infrastructure and troubleshoot problems/bugs.
- Test and configure software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices.
- Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their own work.
- Vendor management
Requirements:
- 1-2 years’ experience as network technician or relevant position
- Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication skills
- Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
- Hands-on experience with common software and hardware
- CompTIA or Cisco network certification a plus
- Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
