Job Purpose:
Administer all aspects of Pomfret’s athletic and afternoon program—including the evaluation of personnel, program offerings, and student growth— in ways that deliver an integrated, dynamic and empowering educational experience for all Pomfret students.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for scheduling all athletic contests, including officials and transportation
- Work within established constraints that prioritize academic time and consider travel distance, budgetary limitations, the frequency of games, and strength of opponents.
- Arrange equipment and scheduling needs with varsity coaches
- In partnership with the CFO, develop and work within the approved athletic budget
- Assist in creating annual and long term calendars
- Regularly attend athletic events, work in conjunction with the assistant athletic director to cover all home events, and act as tournament manager for all league/tournament playoff games assigned to Pomfret School
- Attend League meetings and other appropriate and necessary professional development
- Interview, onboard, educate, mentor, evaluate, and assess new and returning coaches regarding coaching duties, program management, the student experience and individual performance.
- Collect data that assesses the success, engagement and growth of students and adults
- Provide regular evaluation and feedback, professional training and mentoring to all coaches / program leads, including by hosting on-going PD events for the full faculty
- Participate in the School’s evaluation system by sharing results of coaching performance evaluations with the Dean of Faculty and individual coaches.
- Assist and mentor coaches with athlete discipline issues
- Oversee the Athletics Operations Coordinator, including maintenance and inventory of athletic equipment
- Oversee Athletic Trainers and assure that the AT team is providing timely care, documentation, and communication to athletes, families, and the Health and Wellness Center.
- Participate in Shoulders Team meetings; host weekly athletic department meetings
- Maintain athletic rosters, calendars and team pages on the School website; post scores/results and update the student information system in a timely manner
- Prioritize posting rosters on the SIS, particularly when a new athletic seasons begin
- Coordinate meals with dining hall for teams departing early and for teams returning late from away games.
- Oversee the design and implementation of preseason events, including oversight of campus operations during Fall Preseason and travel/planning for March Break athletics
- Arrange and organize team photos in each season

Plan seasonal athletic award assemblies
- Maintain, purchase, and update all athletic awards and Senior Awards Banquet and Commencement Awards
- Coordinate Fall Family Weekend and Millbrook Day activities with the Athletic Council and other departments and partners
- Coach an athletic team or supervise an afternoon program in one season
- Serve as a faculty advisor to students
- Live on campus and participate in the residential life program, including weeknight and weekend responsibilities
- Participate in the QUEST student life program and the academic program Project:Pomfret
- Attend faculty and school meetings, chapel services, and other required school functions
- Adhere to all School policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Continually meet or exceed Pomfret School’s Standards of Behavior, Character, and Engagement
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 5 years in a boarding school environment
- Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred
- Must hold a valid US driver’s license
- Superior organizational skills
- Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Fluent in Filemaker Pro, Google Workspace, CMS systems, web applications
Work Conditions:
- Environment includes business office setting involving hours of computer work
- Ability to move around on campus in a variety of weather conditions
- Nights and weekends, as required
