ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : The Hive operates within an 8,500 sq / ft space designed to foster creativity and innovation. The Creative Facilities Director, who reports to the Executive Director, is the primary steward of this space. This role maintains an inspiring, safe, and functional environment that supports creativity and collaboration. It is hands-on, in-person, and highly collaborative. No two days are the same, and you will wear many hats and share many responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Foster an Inspiring and Welcoming Environment :

  • Cultivate an atmosphere of possibility and creative exploration
  • Engage hands-on in the Hive's making spaces by leading and modeling creative projects
  • Supervise, mentor, and inspire diverse student staff and professional colleagues
  • Develop signage and messaging to enhance the Hive's appearance and brand
  • Support student and faculty creative projects
  • Build on successful operations, processes, and relationships to catalyze growth and support new initiatives
  • Maintain Facilities, Materials, and Safety :

  • Oversee and enhance Hive physical spaces, furniture, fixtures, equipment, materials and upkeep
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures in all Hive spaces
  • Manage inventory of creative supplies, furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  • Collaborate with Campus Facilities to maintain and improve spaces and facilities supporting making and teaching
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain and enhance technology supporting making and teaching
  • QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor's degree, preferably in a program, project, or design-related field. Minimum five years of experience in :

  • Developing processes and managing projects
  • Facilities management
  • Hands-on construction and making
  • Facilitation and mentoring

  • Clear, accurate, and effective communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal, and digital)
  • Experience with design and creative engagement to support the Hive's mission

  • Enthusiastic about teaching and learning with students, faculty, staff, community members, and local school groups
  • Ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, Workday, Slack, Zoom, and general office tools
  • REQUIRED HOURS : The regular hours for this full-time, in-person position are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 30 p.m. Some variable and flexible scheduling may be required. Occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours may be necessary.

    ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS : Regular, full-time, benefits eligible, exempt position. The salary for this role is between $90,000-$93,000 per year. The specific factors that the organization will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include education, training, prior experience, and performance in prior role. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.
