Under the direction of an assigned supervisor/Manager III, participates and assists in the preparation, set up and service of food items and meals. This includes but is not limited to meals for regular and special functions. Performs routine duties including handling inventory, cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, work and serving areas; operates computerized point of sale system; sets up serving area, steam tables, ice, trays etc.; sets out food and beverages; serves food to students, staff and public according to established procedures; assists in heating and assembling hot and cold foods; tosses salads; opens cans; slices and grates; adheres to all applicable health and sanitation requirements; maintains work areas and serving areas in a sanitary manner; washes and cleans pots, pans, steam tables, etc.; cleans and stores utensils, trays and kitchen equipment; stocks and maintains assembly lines as necessary; may receive and count money; may assist with related meal count and inventory control; make change accurately; may operate computerized point of sale system; measure, count and apportion food; performs related duties as assigned within classification. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: Pass the Food Services Worker I test and pass pre-employment physical. Any combination equivalent to sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed in the job description.
