Under general direction from the Store or Service Managers, the Mechanic maintains and repairs vehicles with the use of proper tools and equipment. May also be known as Mechanic - Commercial, Mechanic - Retail, and Mechanic Commercial & Retail.
Objectives/Functions:

- Perform oil changes, tire alignments, brake and shock replacement, and other mechanical services
- Maintain and replace tires on vehicles
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Troubleshoot customer needs and inspect vehicles for additional problems
- Perform general housekeeping in work area
- Other duties as assigned by manager
- Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration
- Primarily working indoors with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions such as heat and cold
- Frequent exposure to various toxic and/or caustic chemicals
- Noise level in the work environment can be loud; safety equipment is provided, as needed
- Regularly lift, push, or move 50 pounds; occasionally lift, push, or move 100 pounds
- Constant standing required with frequent twisting, bending, stooping, crouching, and crawling
- Must be able to visually inspect tires and vehicles in order to assess problems and make repairs
- Frequent use of fingers and hands to feel; frequent reaching above shoulders with hands and arms
- Valid driver's license desired
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers and co-workers
- Ability to read and verify work order information
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- ASE certification desired
- TIA certifications desired or willing to obtain
