Position: Parent Liaison

Reports To: Ponca City High School
Summary:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Dealing with students and families on school attendance concerns. Must encourage the familiesand the student with attendance concerns by following a process:
Steps of Process:
Parent of a Child absent 2 or more school days without parent contact or with an established absenteeism pattern will be contacted.
- 1. School attempted to make parent contact and student attendance fails to improve.
- 2. School notifies Parent Liaison to make parent contact through a phone call.
- 3. The Parent Liaison will mail a letter ragarding a Compulsory Attendance Letter and a copy of the student’s current attendance records. The parent will sign a receipt for the letter and attendance record. The signed copies will be placed in student’s attendance/discipline file. Record of home contact will be documented in Power School. If parent is not available at the time of the home visit then a business card will be left at the home with the Compulsory Letter and instructions to contact the Parent Liaison. The Parent Liaison will follow up with phone contact and school or home visit.
- 4. If student absenteeism continues then Parent Liaison will notify parent of the Schools’ intent to send an affidavit to the District Attorney.
- 5. Liaison continues to contact the parent with the information that District Attorney Action is pending.
Must provide own vehicle and posses a valid OK driver’s license with proof of adequate insurance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises students.

Education and /or Experience:
College hours; previous experience working with students and adults.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students and administrators.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work with students with diverse needs and of various ethnicities and cultures. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
