Position: Childcare Teacher Immediate Supervisor: Childcare Supervisor
Program: Childcare (CCDF) Salary: DOE
General Description
To ensure a safe, supervised area for children in developmentally appropriate activities ages 6 weeks and up. Promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of childcare children. Create a successful environment that promotes growth in accordance with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Willing to submit to background check and fingerprinting.
- Willing to attend trainings to acquire Professional Ladder Certificate
- Within 30 days of hire must obtain CPR, first aid and food handler's card.
- Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
- Requires good teamwork and coordination skills.
- Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to manage physically active children, including lifting, guiding, pursuing, restraining, and withstanding sudden movements. Also, the ability to move and lift supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Must be physically able to get up and down with children.
Duties and responsibilities
- Monitor children at all times.
- Work with staff, parents, and volunteers to listen and meet the needs of the children.
- Ensure a safe and developmentally appropriate setting.
- Respond to emergency situations in a calm and efficient manner.
- Observe and record behaviors of children to assist in the identification of each child's strengths and areas to grow.
- Influence and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children.
- Create and follow a consistent schedule that includes small and large group activities, centers, music and movement, meals, outdoor learning, naptime and have effective transitions between activities.
- Provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in the classroom.
- Previous experience supervising children preferred.
- Ability to create lessons plans that encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, open ended questions, and choice making.
- Ability to visually assess children's health and behaviors and make frequent significant decisions to assure their health and safety.
- Ability to apply developmentally appropriate practices for young children at all times.
- Must sanitize classroom, equipment and willing to do laundry.
- Other duties as needed/assigned.
