Job Summary:
The POS Installer / Configuration Specialist is responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of Point of Sale (POS) systems for our clients. This role involves working both remotely and on-site, providing technical expertise to ensure POS systems function effectively in retail, hospitality, and other business environments. The successful candidate will troubleshoot issues, provide end-user training, and offer continued support post-installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- POS Installation: Install POS hardware (terminals, scanners, printers, card readers, etc.) and software at client locations.
- System Configuration: Configure POS systems according to the client's business needs, including setting up menus, price lists, tax rates, user accounts, etc.
- Network Setup: Ensure proper network connectivity for POS systems, including setting up and configuring routers, modems, and other network devices.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues during installation or post-installation.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Test POS systems thoroughly after installation to confirm they are working as expected, including payment processing and reporting functionalities.
- User Training: Provide training and support to end-users on how to operate and maintain the POS systems.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of installations, configurations, and troubleshooting activities.
- Maintenance & Support: Provide ongoing technical support and maintenance, either remotely or on-site, to ensure optimal performance of installed systems.
- Upgrades & Updates: Ensure POS systems are regularly updated with new software versions or patches and assist with system upgrades when required.
Qualifications:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in POS systems, including hardware setup, software configuration, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in POS system installation and configuration or in a similar technical role.
- Education: Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., A , Network , or vendor-specific POS certifications) are a plus.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to quickly identify and resolve issues.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interaction and user training.
- Travel: Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and install hardware components (up to 25 lbs) and work in different environments (retail, restaurants, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with multiple POS platforms (e.g., Clover, Aloha, Posi, Toast, Micros, etc.).
- Experience with hospitality industries.
- Knowledge of basic networking and payment processing systems.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
