Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the
English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with clients, members, guests,
and co-workers.
Training and Experience: Experience working with chemical applications, pesticides and
fertilizers; valid state driver’s license.
Job Knowledge: Some basic understanding of landscape equipment; Experience in the
calibration, application and use of agricultural application equipment.
Job Summary: Ability to proactively identify and chemically treat all types of ornamental pests,
including insect, weed and disease issues. Ability to perform all hand and machine work on
property, and to operate all grounds maintenance equipment if required.
Physical Abilities: Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Able to drive a motor
vehicle. Perform labor intense work; lifting 50 pounds for an extended period of time. Work with
hand carried sprayer; to walk the property performing required duties and capable of working with
chemicals.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends, holidays and split shifts.
2. Arrive to work on time, consistently.
3. Upon entering the property, arrive in proper uniform, crisp, clean and in good repair.
4. Hair must be clean and cut in a becoming style; management has final approval.
5. Attend all required training, safety courses; attend office and departmental meetings.
6. Report any safety hazards, follow up that hazard has been corrected, and assist with providing a safe work environment.
7. Learn the use of all grounds chemical application equipment and all accompanying safety features following Material Safety Data Sheet procedures.
8. Gain specific knowledge of chemicals and their uses.
9. State of Florida Turf and Ornamental Spray License a plus.
10. Follow all procedures for the safe handling of chemicals.
11. Responsible for the organization and upkeep of the chemical and fertilizer storage rooms in a safe manner.
12. Accountable for the maintenance of the chemical daily records; to include what was used, how much, in what machine and the weather conditions.
13. Monitor property for problems, identify, target and treat.
14. Identify, translate and map pests and chemical applications.
15. Perform any other work as assigned by the Landscape Superintendent and/or Director of Horticulture.
