Technical Writer (Software Engineer)

Redwood City, CA 94063 – On-site

• This role is a 1099 contract, but the work is on-going.
• Hourly pay $40-$100/based on experience, and (if needed) a $5000 relocation package

Are you passionate about building amazing docs? This might be the opportunity for you! We are helping our client, DevDocs, in their search for a Technical Writer (Software Engineer)

WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOFTWARE ENGINEERS WHO WANT TO:

• Work directly with clients
• Deliver value with what you write (whether that's writing docs content or code)
• Work with other developers who are engaged and excited about their work
• Use all the tools in their toolbelt to write great docs
• That means using code, AI, and products like Pipedream to improve how we write / generate docs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct a comprehensive content audit and develop a discovery plan
• Create new content by conducting SME interviews and researching source material on the topic
• Revise and update existing documentation to improve usability and clarity
• Identifying, scoping, and recommending to your client what other important work should be done
• Ensure documentation is accurate, current, and aligns with industry best practices

REQUIREMENTS:

• A bachelor’s degree, along with 4 years of software development or similar experience
• Excellent communicator who can interact directly with clients, clarify needs, and explain technical concepts
• A consultative approach to identify and solve client problems, aligning solutions with their goals
• Ability to build understanding of your work and be able to explain that to others
• Adaptable to a startup's fast pace and growth, ready to take on evolving challenges

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in consulting, management, entrepreneurship, sales, or similar roles which require getting buy-in from clients / customers
• Experience building AI models
• Open communication style and a good fit for collaborative team dynamics
