Solid Waste Construction Manager

SUMMARY:
- This position will be focused on constructing and maintaining solid waste facilities around the Southeastern U.S. You will be responsible for building and maintaining a team who perform high quality, exemplary work for our clients. You will be supported by a 70 year old company that prides itself on teamwork, quality, and loyalty. You will be the practice leader for this work in this geographic area
THE ANTICIPATED DUTIES THAT COULD BE PERFORMED IN THIS ROLE
- Review and understand project bid documents including plans, specifications, all related addenda and other relative correspondence as it relates to the area of your assigned job
- Attend Pre-Bid meetings as required to gather all pertinent information related to a project and your assigned estimate division
- Visit project sites to ascertain any local and project specific information that is needed to prepare a bid
- Perform all necessary quantity surveys for your assigned area
- Understand the relationship between all trade divisions
- Work with the estimating team to develop a competitive bid
- Once a job is awarded, build a project team including appropriate personnel and equipment necessary to perform the work
- Coordinate schedules, equipment needs, and material deliveries for assigned projects
- Setup and manage electronic job files
- Assist with reviewing and processing submittal documents
- Assist with GPS data management including pre and post job surveys
- Attend project meetings
- Coordinate schedules with project foremen, owners, inspectors, and subcontractors
- Various other tasks as needed to ensure project completion
- Willingness to "do what it takes” and assist on job sites as-needed in any capacity
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a strong work ethic
- Understanding of construction layout and construction sequence
- Possess valid driver's license and meet criteria to drive a Company vehicle
- Proficient in all aspects of construction layout, read and understand blueprints, layout, existing surveys, and earthwork computations, set, and maintain horizontal and vertical control
- Proven success constructing new landfill cells including MSW and C&D
- Proven success constructing landfill caps and closures for MSW and C&D
- Ability to read, interpret or prepare field notes, sketches, drawings, and specifications as they pertain to the development of lines and grades
- Proficient in reading, writing, addition, subtraction, geometry, fractions, percentages (calculate grades)
- Good understanding of computers, file management, MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project)
- Should be able to conduct minor layout with basic measurement devices (tape measure, site level, etc.) and a set of plans if necessary
- Willing to occasionally work long hours, nights, weekends, and 50 hour weeks, as necessary, during the "blow and go” periods that every construction company faces, which is typically in the summer
- Willing to travel to remote job sites
- Ability to optimize company operations by managing data from various sources including equipment utilization and productivity, earthmoving productivity, and labor productivity and job costing
