What are the responsibilities and job description for the Watershed Planner position at POPE SOIL & WATER CONSERVATION?
Job Summary
This is a 40 hour/week position responsible for coordinating comprehensive local water/watershed management planning and implementation efforts in the Chippewa River watershed. The successful candidate will work with various organizations, including West Otter Tail SWCD, Otter Tail County, Grant SWCD, and others.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate watershed-wide outreach and educational programming as identified in the Public Participation Plan.
- Organize Pope Soil and Water Conservation Districts adult education and outreach activities, including workshops, field days, and promotional materials.
- Participate in watershed planning activities as Pope SWCD's representative or alternate for other watershed partnerships.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in natural resources, soils, geology, agriculture, geography, planning, information systems, hydrology, public administration, environmental resource management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of geology, geography, planning, wildlife ecology, wetland, and grassland management.
- Experience with design and installation of conservation practices or similar work.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with a wide variety of people.
- Self-motivated and able to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Computer experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and GIS (ArcView).
- Able to obtain USDA Federal Security Clearance.
- Valid Minnesota drivers license.
