Overview
Poppe Law Firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to represent and counsel clients in complex litigation, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death cases. You’ll be expected to solve problems and propose solutions that benefit our clients and advance their cases. Additionally, this role requires substantial trial experience, advocating for plaintiffs in court and effectively presenting cases before judges and juries.
Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate potential cases to determine whether the firm will accept representation.
• Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics.
• Communicate regularly with clients (at least every 60 days) to keep them informed about case progress.
• Manage assigned cases and ensure they are efficiently advanced.
• Conduct legal research, identify applicable laws, and determine causes of action.
• Draft complaints, pleadings, motions, and discovery; respond to opposing motions and pleadings.
• Review incoming discovery, participate in depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Appear in court and advocate for plaintiffs, presenting compelling arguments and ensuring their best interests are represented.
• Develop and execute case strategies, including witness preparation and jury selection.
• Engage in settlement negotiations and prepare settlement demand packages.
• Assist in trial preparation, including exhibits and expert witness coordination.
• Participate in meetings, mentor law clerks, and propose innovative solutions to case challenges.
• Stay current with CLEs and developments in Kentucky and Indiana law.
• Solve problems and propose effective solutions that improve case outcomes.

Qualifications
• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Kentucky and Indiana.
• 3 years of personal injury or business litigation experience (preferred).
• Extensive experience appearing in court and advocating for plaintiffs in trial settings.
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
• Attention to detail with the ability to think critically and propose solutions.
• Excellent client service skills and the ability to build trust with clients.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, tackling challenges with a proactive approach.
