Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Paralegal at The Poppe Law Firm®. The Paralegal will be responsible for assisting attorneys with legal document preparation, communication with clients, conducting research, and document review.
Qualifications
- Strong background in Law and legal procedures
- Conducts client interviews as needed, asking questions, listening to client concerns, and compiling essential facts to determine eligibility for representation.
- Interacts with the client regularly (at least once every 45 days) to ensure the client is kept abreast of events and is informed of case progress.
- Handles client inquiries about case status or refers legal questions to the associate attorney assigned to the case.
- Analyzes and summarizes all documentary evidence, depositions, and medical billing records.
- Assists in answering phones when administrative personnel are unable to do so. All calls should be answered professionally, using a friendly greeting.
- Assists associate attorney as needed with discovery issues and other tasks.
- Performs background research and document findings in Filevine.
- Experience in legal document preparation
- Performs the electronic filing of pleadings, as well as serving pleadings and documents to defense counsel.
- Schedules and calendars for all critical dates such as depositions, mediations, and other discovery and docket deadlines.
- Calendars SOLs; responses to deficiency letters; responses to demand and case-related deadlines.
- Schedules court reporters, videographers, and conference rooms.
- Provides support at trial, including but not limited to, managing exhibits, maintaining detailed notes of testimony, and running trial software.
- Facilitates the collection of documentation, such as medical records, bills, subrogation liens, loss of income, etc.
- Prepares/responds to correspondence to and from clients, insurance carriers, providers, etc.
- Maintains updated summaries of facts using Case Map and Filevine.
- Assists in identifying and preparing exhibits for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Proficient in conducting legal research
- Ability to conduct document review
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with litigation software is a plus
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or related field
