What are the responsibilities and job description for the Copywriter position at Popskull?
Popskull is a boutique ad agency located in Chicago that has clients across North America and Europe. We’re known for driving benchmark creative for our clients, many of which are emerging businesses trying to fight their way up through thick competitive environments and budgets.
Our nimble creative department has exciting opportunities to create engaging creative, ranging from traditional ad campaigns to social posts, with the majority of the work being social media creative and ongoing management. To us, social media is not just about posting content. It’s about enabling our clients to succeed through creating relevant, cutting-edge work that hits an emotional chord with people, inspires them to engage, and enables our clients to succeed and grow.
As a copywriter, your top-line responsibility is to strategically concept and develop compelling and engaging stories that enable Popskull clients to reach their goals. You will write content for websites, packaging, social media, and other brand-related content. You’ll be brainstorming creative concepts with the team. You’ll be able to sell your work both internally and to clients.
You must be a reliable, go-to member of the creative team...actively collaborating with the creative director, art director, other writers, content creators, project manager, and the account lead from conceptualization to execution. You also should be someone who is idea-driven and doesn't want to be pigeonholed into one discipline or stuck working on one client.

What you bring to the table:
- A positive, collaborative attitude and strong work ethic.
- 5 - 8 years of experience in the agency or client space.
- Some book time, such as a bachelor’s degree in writing or a similar discipline.
- Work that shows thought, creativity, and ownership.
- Interpersonal skills and look forward to collaboration while also being able to stand on your own.
- Experience in creating original concepts, for clear, concise, and convincing writing, and for grammatical and material accuracy.
- The ability to strategize, craft, and execute ongoing content that tells compelling, engaging objective-driven stories. Objectives include, but are not limited to, building awareness, nurturing potential customers, and retaining followers.
You will be expected to:
- Express the creative strategy and vision throughout all agency work, including traditional print, digital, social, signage, branding, activations, B2B communications, videos, content, package design.
- Work closely and collaborate with agency and external teams to conceive, craft, and execute innovative ideas that are on time and produce positive client business results.
- Have attention to detail in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Maintain, organize, and archive your work across content calendars, copy decks, etc.
- Own and drive each client’s individual brand voice.
- Build a positive reputation and trusted relationships with prospects, clients, coworkers, and outside partners.
- Incorporate and manage feedback and other ideas while also learning from them to better future work.

- Providing proactive, strong concepts to your projects, delivering on time and within budget, while maintaining positive team morale
- Demonstrating original thinking and bringing ideas forward related to projects and workflow

Salary : $65,000 - $75,000
