Job Description
Our mission at Little Pirates Childcare Center is to create a safe place to learn and grow. We provide accessible, dependable, Hyde County based childcare services in a caring, safe environment, with a quality educational focus. Little Pirates is in search of a Child Care Teacher to teach and supervise children, while also motivating them to use their mental capacities and exercise their imagination.
Responsibilities
- Design and follow a full schedule of activities and discover suitable teaching materials
- Balance your teaching between logical and social exercises
- Provide basic care and caregiving activities
- Use a wide range of teaching methods to enhance the child’s abilities (stories, media, indoor or outdoor games, drawing, etc.)
- Evaluate children’s performance to make sure they are reaching developmental milestones
- Keeping records of each child’s progress, interests and any problems that may occur
- Observe interactions and promote the inclusion of all children
- Identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action
- Collaborate with other colleagues
- Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by the official sources
- Ensuring the children have good hygiene and changing diapers as necessary
- Cleaning interactive areas throughout the day
- Serving meals and snacks for the kids
- Remain in constant communication with parents and update them on the progress of their children. Contacting parents in the case
of an emergency

Essential Functions / Performance Objectives : 1. Ensure the safety and security of each child in your care 2. Nurture children through purposeful programming, implement mission based, age-appropriate curricula as forth by the Childcare Coordinator. 3. Develop and maintain positive relationships with all your care. 4. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues. 5. Provides and welcomes ongoing positive dialog and relations with YMCA families. 6. Complete continuing education annual requirements. 7. Maintain excellent room appearance and proper maintenance and use of equipment, supplies, and materials. 8. Learn and actively implement YMCA social and Emotional Curriculum, Conscious Discipline. 9. Completes opening and closing procedure as required. 1 10. Follow all childcare policies and procedures as set forth in the childcare employ handbook 11. Applies all YMCA safety and emergency procedures and state and local codes. 12. Accurately complete an incident / accident report for each incident / accident and submit and report it in accordance with staff training. Leadership Competencies :
