What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Buyer position at Porky Products, Inc?
This employee will perform purchasing functions and assist other purchasing employee in the efficient procurement of meat products. This role is generalist in nature as it relates to different meat & seafood commodities. The job is supportive in nature with the potential move into a lead buying role given performance over time. This position will report to the Senior Vice President.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting various buying leads in processing procurement documents.
- Managing pre order purchases and inventory
- Learning the SAP software currently deployed by the company
- Preparing confidential information, i.e. price lists, inventories
- Covering for buying lead while on PTO
- Understanding and contributing to the Porky culture
- Communicating and developing relationships with sales team and vendors.
- Performing other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three (3) years of purchasing experience in a protein distribution business
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
- Strong clerical skills including computing skills and a moderate proficiency in the Microsoft Office applications
- Must be reliable and be available to work early morning schedules
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
- Knowledge of meat/seafood and related products
Desired Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of purchasing experience in a protein distribution business
- Experience using SAP Information Systems
