What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Grounds Worker position at Port Jervis City School District?
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Routine manual work involving responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of the district's grounds and facilities. Work is coordinated by the Head Grounds Worker under the direct supervision of the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only)
- Mows grass, rakes leaves, trims hedges and trees;
- Operates grounds maintenance equipment, trucks, tractors, rollers, mowing, line painting equipment, etc.;
- Maintains athletic and playground fields and equipment;
- Maintains sidewalks, roadways, parking lots, and paved areas
- May perform minor maintenance to grounds keeping machinery and equipment;
- Paints and lines parking lots, roadways, athletic fields and courts;
- Assembles, inspects, and maintains playground and athletic equipment;
- Keeps grounds free of litter;
- Plants and cares for trees, shrubs and other planting;
- Plows and shovels snow, salt and sand ice on roadways, driveways, parking lots, walks, steps, etc.;
- May be assigned inside work or other tasks during inclement weather and on the basis of need;
- Assists in the movement of materials, supplies, furnishings, and equipment between facilities;
- And all other related duties.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in park or grounds maintenance activities.
REQUIREMENT FOR ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS: Must possess a valid Driver's License.
SALARY: $20.13/ Hour
