TITLE: Main Office Courier

WAGE/SALARY: $15.00 / hour
Job Summary
The Main Office Courier position is responsible for delivering interdepartmental mail, packages, and documents within and outside the district. This position supports administrative functions, assists with facility upkeep and performs operational and custodial duties as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain a daily schedule for picking up and delivering interoffice correspondence, packages, money, checks, and financial deposits within and outside the port.
- Handle commission deliveries and distribute agendas.
- Assists in the reception area, including answering calls, greeting visitors, and processing work orders as needed.
- Prepare and send outgoing correspondence and packages, including operating the postage meter.
- Maintain the lobby, executive lounge, boardroom, and storage areas.
- Set up the boardroom and conference rooms for meetings and events.
- Oversee inventory and ordering of office and janitorial supplies.
- Conduct weekly inspections of assigned district vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition and ready for use.
- Purchase supplies, process orders, and pick up items from outside vendors.
- Provide support to the permit office as needed.
- Operate the tour bus for events.
- Assist with cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of general office practices and office equipment.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to follow assigned tasks to completion with minimum supervision.
- Clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Work Conditions & Physical Demands
- Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions such as heat, cold, dust, and vehicle exhaust.
- Withstand prolonged periods of standing, walking, and/or sitting, and occasional lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent contact with the public.
- Work will involve the use of a computer
- Work occasionally requires driving in an environment that contains heavy equipment in operation.
- Occasional work outside of normal working hours may be required.
Additional Requirements
- Valid Texas Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Selected candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation to be hired for this position.
