What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Intern position at Port Of Corpus Christi Authority?
This position, under general supervision of either the Manager of Environmental Compliance, Manager of Environmental Permitting or Manager of Environmental Sustainability and Resilience, is responsible primarily for completion of assigned tasks related to advancing initiatives and activities outlined in the department workplan; responsible for performing general administrative tasks.
Essential Functions:
- Perform tasks listed in the associated Environmental Management Programs for each of the Environmental Policy precepts—air quality, water quality, habitat restoration, soils and sediments, climate action, and climate adaptation
- Perform relevant research and benchmarking associated with objectives listed in the Department Workplan
- Data collection to benchmark performance with regard to the Environmental Policy precept targets
- Research environmental and sustainability initiatives in association with the Port’s performance under ISO 14001 and Green Marine certification
Other:
- Adheres to Port policy and maintains good employee relations
- Completes assigned tasks and works required hours/shifts fulfill Port objectives
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Additional Physical Factors:
While performing duties employee is regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand finger movements; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Environmental Factors:
General office environment; occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
This is an internship position. Candidates shall be attending an accredited college or university with a major in marine biology, biology, environmental science, environmental engineer, geology, or any related environmental field; demonstrated written and oral proficiency in the English language; proficiency in Spanish preferred. Strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.
