What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maritime Studies Intern position at Port Of Corpus Christi Authority?
The Maritime Studies Internship is a partnership between the Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) and the Port of Corpus Christi. The student selected for this internship is under the general supervision of the Operations team and will provide support to the Operations department for the Port of Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Collect, organize, and analyze operational data to support decision-making.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and dashboards to track performance metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address operational challenges and develop meaningful solutions.
- Contribute to special projects related to operations and logistics as directed.
OTHER:
- Adheres to Port policy and maintains good employee relations
- Completes assigned tasks and works required hours/shifts fulfill Port objectives
- Performs other related duties as assigned
ADDITIONAL PHYSICAL FACTORS:
While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand finger movements; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
General office environment; occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This is an internship position. Candidates shall be in good academic standing in the Maritime or Engineering P-TECH programs at the Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD), with demonstrated written and oral proficiency in the English language; proficiency in Spanish preferred. Strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.
