Job Summary

This position, under the general supervision of the Business Systems Manager, is responsible primarily for the support, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of the Port's financial, reporting, timekeeping, and business analytics software.

Essential Functions :

• Collaborates in the planning, design, development, and deployment of applications, and enhancements to applications
• Gathers and analyzes data in support of business cases, and proposed projects
• Assist in generating and compiling reports based on data findings
• Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues
• Participate in design sessions for prototyping new systems
• Create system data flow charts, operation manuals and end-user manuals
• Use of Microsoft SQL in building reports with various analytical software

While performing duties employee is regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand finger movements; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach stoop, kneel and lift and / or move up to 30 pounds.

Environmental Factors :

General office environment; occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications :

This is an internship position. Candidates shall be attending an accredited college or university with a major in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related fields; demonstrated written and oral proficiency in the English language. Strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.
