Position Summary :
Designs, installs, maintains, and supports LAN, WAN, wireless, and Voice-over-IP infrastructure at Port Houston facilities. Provides technical support for voice, wireless, and data network systems, creates and maintains network documentation, maintains hardware and software standards, and collaborates on projects as necessary to upgrade to new and / or improved communication equipment and procedures.
Key Responsibilities / Duties :
- Monitor network infrastructure and related systems for performance and integrity
- Serve as the technical expert on network infrastructure hardware and software and its effective application at Port Houston facilities
- Install and configure new network infrastructure hardware, software, peripherals, and services in accordance with current IT standards
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot wireless networks
- Install and troubleshoot structured network cabling including ethernet and fiber; install layer one copper and fiber physical topology; troubleshoot network and problem resolution efforts, including performing root-cause analysis and disseminating lessons learned among IT staff
- Coordinate network-related operations, maintenance, and projects with all information technology support groups
- Recommend changes to the Port Houston network infrastructure and related IT systems, policies and procedures in accordance with industry best practices and current technology trends
- Serve as the principal technical liaison between the IT and third-party networking contractors and consultants
- Provide technical input to the Port Houston disaster recovery and business continuity plans, and participates in both disaster recovery testing and execution
- Update and maintain Network infrastructure inventory in both ManageEngine and SolarWinds
- Update and maintain network topology drawings and other documentation
- Act in accordance with Port Houston core values (respect, excellence, accountability, diligence, and you)
- Perform other duties as required
