Description:
The Bilingual Truck Dispatcher is responsible for efficiently coordinating and scheduling the pick-up and drop-off of containers, ensuring all loads are delivered to the port on time. This role includes monitoring and reporting on truck maintenance, coordinating with maintenance vendors for necessary repairs, and ensuring compliance with DMV/DOT regulations and other applicable agencies.
Scheduling and Coordination- Schedule the pick-up and drop-off of containers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Coordinate with drivers and provide them with the necessary information and instructions for each trip.
- Monitor and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate delays or changes in plans.
- Ensure all loads are properly secured and transported to the port.
- Communicate with internal customers regarding pick-up and delivery times to meet their requirements.
- Monitor and report on the maintenance status of all trucks, ensuring all necessary maintenance is completed on time.
- Follow up with maintenance vendors regarding required repairs to keep trucks in optimal working condition.
- Ensure all operations comply with DMV, DOT, UCR, FMCSA, IRP, IFTA, UIIA, NMFTA regulations, and other applicable laws.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Manage insurance policy contracts for PTP Logistics and PTP Transportation Solutions.
- Generate and submit regular reports on dispatch activities, maintenance status, and regulatory compliance. This includes providing a weekly report to accounting for processing driver payments.
- Provide feedback to the Operations Manager on operational issues and suggest improvements.
- Upload the CCR to the BNI, including information about the materials used for loading.
- Assist with general operations, including yard duties such as inspecting or supporting the loading team.
- Receive tow truck drivers, noting when they bring in vehicles and if titles are included.
- Enter title information into BNI, ensuring accuracy during the scanning process and between physical titles and BNI records.
- Verify contracts to ensure they are scanned and recorded accurately in BNI.
- Deliver titles received through the receiving area to customer service (CS).
- Verify container seals and numbers in BNI.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or transportation is a plus.
- Proven experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role within the transportation industry.
- Strong understanding of DMV, DOT, UCR, FMCSA, IRP, IFTA, UIIA, and NMFTA regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer and internet skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- Excellent multitasking skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to perform well under stress.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills (Both verbal and written)
- Must pass a background screening and drug tests.
