What are the responsibilities and job description for the School District Kitchen Staff position at Portage Community Schools?
Portage Community School District is hiring multiple kitchen staff team members to fill various roles throughout the District.
Current Positions Available:
Cook at the High School: 7:45am-1:30pm
Cook at the Middle School: 7:30am-1:15pm
Server at John Muir Elementary: 10:15am-1:15pm
Job Duties, Daily Tasks, and Eligible Benefits vary by Position. A sample of some duties and tasks include:
- Must learn HACCP safety procedures and conform to current safety and sanitation standards.
- Money handling, computer knowledge, and math are required.
- Initiative and ability to work with minimal direction, sound judgment, and decision making.
- Must complete 6 hours of annual training.
- Maintain a cheerful, positive attitude and good relationship with co-workers, staff, students, and parents.
- Help cook and prepare food.
- Read and follow production sheets.
- Complete all tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Assist with the scanning of student’s breakfast and lunches.
- Serve in the lunch line.
- Cleaning duties: kitchen area, tables, floor mopping and other kitchen areas as assigned.
- Clean trays, wash dishes and run the dishwasher.
- Recycle materials.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.25 - $16.50 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 28 per week
