What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Technician position at Portage Path Behavioral Health?
Portage Path Behavioral Health Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) is part of Summit County's Crisis Center available to community during times of mental health crisis. PES is a 24/7 center which uses the best practices in psychiatric care to help individuals manage psychiatric emergencies, stabilize crisis and return safely to the community. If you have a passion towards those who live with mental illness, working at PES will be very rewarding. You will play an active role in assisting these individuals during a time of crisis and helping them get the help they need.
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is a vital part of the clinical team at PES. The MHT will work in the Emergency Evaluation Department (EE) and the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). The shifts currently hiring for are a three week rotation. 3 / 12-hour shifts per week for full-time. One weekend every three weeks. Alternating holidays. Hiring day and night shift.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
- Greets all persons who present at the door and monitors clients and visitors entering and exiting PES.
- Assists in emergencies at the request of the Nurse or Emergency Clinician.
- Assists in collecting information and records to ensure accurate admission and discharge from facility.
- Maintains documentation on clients in PES's EMR platform.
- Work one-on-one with EE clients to ensure their safety and engage with those clients in the CSU by participating in therapeutic activities.
- Answers phones and directs callers to most appropriate person.
- Completes shift checklists for monitoring clients and required tasks; such as: cleaning, laundry, serving meals, regulatory logs and client chart organization.
- Transport CSU clients to and from appointments.
Canidate must possess the following skills:
- Customer service, professionalism, compassion and attention to detail
- Computer skills
- Ability to successfully participate in Handle with Care Verbal and Physical de-escalation tactics (Handle with Care training is offered by PES as part of the orientation agenda)
- Ability to obtain CPR certification (offered by PES)
- Valid driver's license
