Portales Municipal Schools seeks a Library Educational Assistant to work with teachers and administrators in planning and coordinating library activities for the school for the 2025/2026 school year. This position is based on a 183-day contract with eight supplemental days. This person will assist teachers and students with the selection of materials.
Qualifications:
Must hold or qualify for a Level 3 New Mexico Educational Assistant License.

- Maintaining consideration and order files
- Following processing procedures established by the Librarian

- Assisting with circulation processes

- Compiling overdue records
- Give instruction to any students on the use of the library
- Promote effective use of the library media center and its services
- Perform other library duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying (up to 50 lbs), reaching, squatting, kneeling, and moving light furniture may be required.
An FBI fingerprint background check will be conducted on all new hires of the Portales Municipal Schools at a cost to the employee. Continued employment will be contingent upon the results of the background check.

Portales Municipal Schools are located in the City of Portales, which has a population of about 12,000. The area's economy is based primarily on agriculture. Portales is the home of Eastern New Mexico University and is less than 20 miles from Cannon Air Force Base near Clovis, NM.
The Portales Municipal School District consists of six grade-level schools. This means that each school, except the high school, consists of two grade levels and is not community-based. Portales High School houses grades 9-12, while Brown Early Childhood Center is grades PK-K; James Elementary is 1st and 2nd grade; Valencia Elementary consists of grades 3rd and 4th; Lindsey/Steiner Elementary is grades 5th and 6th; and Portales Junior High is the home of 7th and 8th-grade students.
