KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate company-assigned trucks safely and efficiently on long-haul routes.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate HOS and records of trips, hours, and mileage.
- Communicate effectively with Fleet Operations Coordinators and other company personnel.
- Ensure timely pickup and delivery of goods to various locations.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and report any vehicle issues promptly.
- Collaborate with loading and unloading personnel as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck’s interior and exterior.
- Follow company policies and procedures for safety and operations.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent the company professionally.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and deadlines.
- Handle emergency situations, such as mechanical breakdowns, effectively.
- Stay informed about industry trends and changes in transportation regulations.
- Knowledge of regional (national preferred) DOT regulations since they will be traveling across state lines and interacting with law enforcement agencies across multiple states.
- Manage drive time effectively to meet delivery schedules and deadlines
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years of OTR driving experience
PREFERRED EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A
- Clean driving record with no major violations
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance
- Ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Strong communication skills
- Availability for extended periods away from home
- Ability to handle physical demands, including loading/unloading when required
- Proficient in using GPS and electronic logging devices
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment. The noise level is moderate. Generally, well ventilated, and well lit. Warehouse team members may be required to wear protective clothing. Additionally, may operate heavy equipment and strict safety regulations may be required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work is physically strenuous, and team members are required to lift heavy packages up to 50 pounds. Work may require excessive bending or stooping. Team members may be required to climb ladders, use hand tools, and/or use heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, etc.). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Light duty options may be available.
