PORTCO, Inc is a non-stock, non-profit, 501(C) (3) corporation located in Portsmouth, Virginia. PORTCO was founded in 1991 as an Employment Service Organization to provide transitional, supported employment and vocational services to individuals with disabilities who could not otherwise find and maintain competitive employment on their own.
Main Function:
Manual labor associated with lawn maintenance and groundskeeping such as mowing, trimming, raking, spreading mulch, pruning, planting and edging.
Trimming of grass around trees, shrubs, stanchions, hydrants, and other fixed objects. Trimming may be done by hand or by power shears or trimmers; Edging of walk ways and planting beds; Cultivating, by hand, the beds in which flowers, trees, or shrubs are planted; Mulching of trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds in the spring and late fall and when necessary to control weeds ; Pruning to control plant shape and growth and the maintenance of plant health. Prune to remove dead branches, suckers, crossing branches, and excessively long branches; Planting of flowers during appropriate times of the year so that flowers are in bloom during the spring through fall seasons; Leveling all holes and depressions so that the area is uniform to the immediate surroundings.
