Junior Buyer

Compensation : Hourly
Summary
The primary purpose of this position is sourcing and purchasing material, services, and supplies for Porter Corp. The position requires purchasing general MRO items, meeting cost reduction plans, and purchasing MRP generated, and manufacturing requested production items. Effective management of costs, inventory, and on-time delivery are key to ensuring overall service levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Quality, cost, delivery, service, and technology
2. Identify potential suppliers and request quotes for new and existing products and services
3. Analyze market trends and recommend product substitutions
4. Negotiate competitive prices and favorable terms and conditions
5. Create and manage purchase orders and review related invoices
6. Complete quarterly planning parameter reviews
7. Create and manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs, bulk-buy programs, and stocking programs
8. Closely manage and expedite incoming material to ensure on time delivery and outgoing movement of materials.
9. Promote positive supply chain partnerships
10. Work cross functionally to learn and proactively identify solutions
11. Complete continuous improvement projects / initiatives
12. Monitor and manage inventory levels and inventory dollars
13. Manage material rework and material returns within supply base
14. Perform other related duties as required

Education and / or Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in business administration or supply chain management required
2. Proven experience in a purchasing, material planning, or supply chain role
3. 1 to 2 years of experience in purchasing role preferred
Travel
This position requires minimal to no travel
Computer Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems
Other Requirements
1. Knowledge of cost reduction analysis
2. MRP systems knowledge

4. Overall general knowledge of the manufacturing processes required in the manufacturing of steel structures and structural insulated panels
