Job Summary:
Porter Fire Department is currently seeking applications for a technician to keep up our level of commitment to safety and customer service. The primary function of this position is to service, diagnose, and repair emergency apparatus. Including but not limited to engine, drivetrain, suspension, fire pump, electronics, and other components of the apparatus.

Job Title: Emergency Vehicle Technician
Position Type: Full-Time
Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM
Compensation: $52,000-$72,500/annually, Depending on certifications and experience
Compensation Package:

Ideal Candidate:
- Certified EVT and/or ASE in Diesel Engines, Gasoline engines, drive train, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning, Aerial Apparatus, and fire pumps
- Skilled in diagnosis, repair and post-repair testing of complex mechanical and electrical issues on fire apparatus and emergency equipment
- Experience with light duty and heavy-duty trucks and equipment
- Experience with creating and maintaining vehicle and equipment maintenance records and work orders.
- Quality-minded that can deliver quality service to our customers
- Effective verbal and written communications.
- Able to prepare and complete work orders in a timely manner
- Excellent Quality control ‐ demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback to improve performance, confirms problems have been resolved before releasing equipment
- Must be willing to work as part of a team
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have ability to perform preventative and repair maintenance on various types of fire trucks and apparatus
- High School Diploma or GED, preferably supplemented with additional vocational training in automotive repair.
- EVT certification preferred
- Three (3) plus years, on the job experience, performing service and repair on vehicles or equipment preferred
- Must own tools and wheeled toolbox suitable for daily use and understand their use
- CDL Class B driver’s license or ability to obtain one
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills
- Proficient mechanical skills
- Must be able to pass drug test and background check
- Must be able to be insured by district's auto policy
- Must be willing to adhere to tobacco free workplace regulations
- Must be willing to learn
- Must be able to lift heavy parts 50 lbs into place as needed for repairs of Fire trucks and equipment
- Must be able to work at heights and in inclement weather
- Must be willing to travel for department sponsored continuing education
